Phase 1: Complete the DS-160 Form

  1. Step 1 – Fill DS-160 Online
    Visit the CEAC Website and complete Form DS-160 with your personal, travel, education, and security details.
  2. Step 2 – Upload Passport-Style Photo
    Upload a recent 5cm × 5cm digital photograph on a white background.
  3. Step 3 – Submit & Print Confirmation
    After submitting DS-160, print the confirmation page with the barcode. This is mandatory for your visa appointment.

Phase 2: Create Profile & Pay Visa Fee

  1. Step 4 – Create Account at USTravelDocs
    Visit the official U.S. Visa Scheduling portal and create your profile.
  2. Step 5 – Pay the Visa Fee (MRV Fee)
    Pay the mandatory $185 USD fee via Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) branch or EBL digital banking.
  3. Step 6 – Save Your Payment Receipt
    You will need this receipt number to schedule your interview.

Phase 3: Schedule Interview

  1. Step 7 – Log Back In & Schedule Interview
    Use your DS-160 number and MRV fee receipt number to book your interview at the U.S. Embassy Dhaka.
  2. Step 8 – Print Confirmation Letter
    Take the appointment confirmation page for your embassy visit.

Phase 4: Gather Required Documents

  • Valid passport (6+ months validity)
  • Previous passports
  • DS-160 Confirmation Page

  • MRV Fee Payment Receipt

Phase 5: Attend Interview at the U.S. Embassy Dhaka

  1. Step 9 – Arrive on Time
    Reach the U.S. Embassy in Baridhara with your documents.
  2. Step 10 – Biometrics & Interview
    Fingerprints will be taken, followed by an interview in Bangla or English.
  3. Step 11 – Explain Purpose & Ties
    The consular officer checks whether you have strong ties to Bangladesh and will return after your visit.

Phase 6: Visa Decision & Passport Collection

  1. Step 12 – Visa Approved
    Passport is kept at the embassy; visa will be printed and delivered to your selected pickup point.
  2. Step 13 – Visa Refused
    If refused under Section 214(b), your passport is returned immediately with a refusal sheet.
